Black Sheep Pub

It was a miserable and snowy night when we came upon the Black Sheep. After reading the menu we insisted on going while in Philly and are so happy we did.The main dining room was closed for a private function but we waited in the bar area for a table. Everyone may have been tipsy but it was a comfortable atmosphere. We opted for the bangers and mash and the steak and frites. They were amazing! The flavors weren't drowned by the gravy, which was as thick as you could dream it to be. Even if the snowy walk may have made us a bit hungry, it was absolutely satisfied with these entrees.

I was yearning some English grub so where better than an Irish pub?! Anyway, the waiter was really friendly and the food was excellent. I had the Shepherds Pie (The waiter already knew it should be called Cottage Pie as it was made with beef rather than lamb), and we had a lamb chop starter. Both were delicious. The Philly Steak sandwich was also excellent. I was surprised when we got the bill as it seemed so cheap for the amount of food and accompanying drinks. Highly recommend this place.

Even though only one floor was open when my partner and I went (as the top and lower levels were closed for private events), there was no wait. The food was excellent, and the wait staff was super nice. Due to a ceiling fan that was spinning in the room, the lighting was a bit weird. But, overall, we highly recommend the Black Sheep for great British pub food in Philly, and we plan to return the next time we're in town.

The duck salad was wonderful and Kelly the bartender in the the upstairs was very attentive!

Was absolutely impressed from the door. Such kind people/staff and the food was great too. Been in Philly for years and never went in, but I will more often now! My friend and I had a great time. You should go!

Cool spot with a large variety of drinks. Happy hour lasts longer than most places in the area and the food i tried was above par without being pretentious. I'll definitely go back

The menu and service were above my expectations. We really enjoyed the vibes of this place. Great place to take my family out for lunch.

We love hanging out. Yesterday we found this delicious place which friends told us about. We had a beautiful time there with exceptional meal and a well-trained stuff and a talented cook. We added this restaurant in our list and we will definitely go again soon. Highly recommended.

They forgot about our food there for about half an hour. People who arrived way after us were getting served significantly faster. When our food arrived, my wife's French toast was charcoal and my shepherd's pie had just a smear of stew to a mound of mash.If you are there to watch a soccer game you might have a good time, but a good lunch with some friends could go poorly.

Best place to watch Manchester United Soccer games. I repeat it. Undoubtedly one of the most favorite place in Philly. The beers are not expensive, great staff and electric atmosphere when you are there at game time. Made some really good friends there and would love to watch all the games this season at Black Sheep Pub. 🔴GGMU

Great service! Beer on tap was a good selection. I was there for taco Tuesdays which was delicious. Atmosphere has an oldschool bar feel. Definitely enjoyed it and will return. I definitely recommend this bar.

Was pretty good... wasn't a fan of the lamb curry sliders but the fries were incredible

Very rude management...was with a group of 6 people and the staff tried to get us to move to another table without a view of the tv because the manager claimed a bigger party could arrive. This is no way to treat a customer From past experiences, the food is just OK not great but tends to be a place that is easy to meet up with friends

Locals only kind of place, I visited there and you could feel the stares, it was bizarre I mean it's 2019. Drinks were not too bad but be prepared for a prickly place.

I adore this place! They provide high class food, their menu is rich, The chief cook in that restaurant is well trained, I enjoy very much trying all their food. The dishes are consistently fresh, the service towards the visitors is efficient. I go often to this restaurant and I not even once was discontended. I recommend it to all.

Nice Irish pub. Good food. Nice beer selection and of course plenty of spirits if you're in the mood for a wee dram. Being an Irish pub you can expect occasional merriment and shouts of 'I love you guys' when the whiskey gets to flowing. Don't expect to enjoy your copy of Joyce in a corner in the quiet.

I very much enjoyed the dishes and service, excellent location next to where I live. The employees are always welcoming. Highly recommended.

Love this place. Been there multiple times. The food never disappoints. Nice pub atmosphere. I usually get a guiness. Their shepherds pie & fish and chips are fantastic.

Got the Cheesesteak Spring Rolls. Was disappointed in the size and taste. Not bad, but I had higher expectations. The Cuban was amazing. Best one I've ever had. Thick cut ham, pulled pork, good cheese, hand cut fries..... The bomb dot com.

This was a nice quiet bar right off of Rittenhouse square, it's a good one to go to and relax with a few beers and a decent happy hour menu. The wait staff was interesting and the music was good and quiet enough to have a conversation without screaming. If you like nice people work a relaxed setting than this is a good place for you.

We went their for a home buying conference hosted by our real estate agent. The food was very good, atmosphere was youthful and energetic. We will definitely be going back there for a date night in the near future.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere and quality well priced food!

Great "old pub" feel even with televisions. Great atmosphere, service was very good and the food! Got to sample several dishes with my family and each one was excellent. The Bangers and mash was absolutely delicious. Hope to get back again soon!

Unfortunately a very overrated bar in terms of service, atmosphere, food and especially beer. There are MUCH better options in the area.

Great place. Good atmosphere. Customer service was good but could be improved upon. Came in 30 minutes before a big party and felt rushed out and underserved. They either need to close earlier prior to events or have extra staff to deal with earlier guests, lest they deprive their guests of adequate and effective customer service due to hyper focusing on the upcoming event whole neglecting paying customers. Hope this helps to solve an issue I am probably not alone on.

Very nice stuff.. the kitchen was closed and the manager/owner brought us shepherds pie when we were starving!! If prices were lower just a bittt it would be a dream place!!

Came here to dinner with our son; ordered bacon cheese burger medium well, cheese steak wrap, and a turkey club wrap. What we got was an under cooked burger (like almost raw) for a 10 yr old, steak wrap had 0 flavor, trurkey wrap was dry. The staff was nice, the food absolutely sucked.
